The petrochemical complex will operate sustainably using technology to recycle plastic and re-duce CO2 emissions. It will integrate downstream operations with our refinery for improved synergy and feature a mixed-feed cracker producing 1.65 million tons of ethylene annually. Ad-ditionally, it will include two polyethylene units with TotalEnergies' Advanced Dual Loop Tech-nology, a butadiene extraction unit, and units for aromatics and other derivatives.

The expansion aims to create long-term value for SATORP, our shareholders, and the local economy by generating jobs and promoting sustainability and community development.

On June 3rd in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, the International Refining and Petrochemical Conference (IRPC) 2015 was held. The conference and exhibition delivered a high-level business and technical forum in which key players in the global petrochemical and refinery sector met to share knowledge and learn about best practices and the latest advancements in this developing sector of the oil and gas industry. During the event SATORP was recognized in the Top Awards Ceremony as the Top refining project.

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud Bin Nayif Bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Eastern Province, the National Industrial Training Institute (NITI) in Al-Hasa was inaugurated on June 10. Mohammad Al-Otaibi VP HR&SS attended this ceremony on behalf of SATORP. 80 apprentices, sponsored by SATORP, currently taking their training in NITI.

HE Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, paid a visit to several ventures in the city of Jubail on January 28, 2018. HE visited SATORP and was ac-companied by representatives of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. The Minister was welcomed and received by SATORP Board of Managers, management and a selection of Turnaround team. The visits provided HE Al-Falih an opportunity to assess the successful progress of SATORP. HE took a site tour in the refinery and reviewed SATORP’s first regular Turnaround units.

On the 7th of March 2019, SATORP’s family welcomed His Excellency Khalid Al-Falih, the Minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, chairman of Saudi Aramco’s Board; and Eng. Abdullah Al-Saadan, President of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu. His Excellency was received by SATORP’s Management and team, as well as some officials from both shareholders.
During this visit, SATORP presented an overview and a short movie about the construction phases. Then SATORP’s P&CEO, Mr. Ababtain, delivered a speech highlighting SATORP’s contribution to empowering and training its workforce, 73% of whom are Saudis who participate in operating a 450 kbd, state-of-the-art refinery, with unrivaled safety records. Mr. Al-Falih further commented SATORP’s role as a leading player in the refining industry with a continuous keenness for development. This project, which is shared by Saudi Aramco (62.5%) and Total (37.5%), and which has contributed added value to the Kingdom’s refining industry, will continue to realize all its objectives and achieve optimum operational integration through its two refining trains.
The investment Saudi Aramco has in SATORP reflects a turning point in the incredible growth shown by the company.
This investment represents a landmark in Saudi Aramco’s strategy that targets rapid growth and deep integration of the refining and petrochemical sectors, boosting the company’s global revenues and earmarking the Kingdom as a pioneering energy niche and a global center for oil chemical industries.
SATORP and Saudi Aramco’s investment in the national resources translate as an investment in the economic diversity for achieving the aspirations of the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision. With its national returns and massive foreign investments, this project represents a realistic interpretation of the efforts to realize a diversified economy and keep abreast of the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision and its strategies.
HE Al-Falih’s visit was concluded by a tour to the refinery units and the Main Control Building (MCB) of SATORP.

Under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Amir of the eastern region, Al Ahsa Investment Forum was conducted on March 20, 2019. The forum is considered as a platform for enhancing Al-Ahsa interface from the investment aspect through providing investment opportunities in both the public and the private sectors and shed the light on the comparative features and their most important elements. Through the forum, various worksheets and discussions were presented about the main topics of the forum and posed a comprehensive overview for the investment opportunities in Al Ahsa. Along with different companies in the rejoin SATORP participated in supporting the economic growth in the Kingdom and presenting the future opportunities with different service providers who visited the exhibition.

SATORP Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Inauguration of its First Commercial Operation.

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, SATORP celebrated a momentous milestone: the Anniversary of its first commercial operation in 2014, under the theme “Honoring the Past, Rising to the Future.” The event paid tribute to a decade of outstanding achievements, resilience, and excellence on a journey shaped by its pioneers and fueled by the dedication of its distinguished workforce over the years.
